Over the course of the month of January 2025, I worked on putting together a team of 12 members and lead development on this game jam project as a submission for the Boss Rush Jam 2025. We had to make use of the theme "SPIN" for this project so we incorporated it into the main control scheme for activating attacks with the vinyl spin mechanic. I oversaw the project's progress as the team lead by making decisions on the game's direction and making sure each member is staying on task / assisted in getting them back on track. I also acted as one of the main programmers and the game's main UI designer too.
Inspired by the aesthetics of the street punk and Y2K design we made our game as a small tribute to the 2000s era of games of the time.
In Looped and Loaded, you play as aspiring break dancer Mai where you battle your way through a circuit of fighters in order to make it as the top fighter in the city. Players channel Mai's fighting abilities by spinning a vinyl disc to perform combo actions that'll surely sweep up the enemies! Spinning the vinyl disc on time with the beat will enhance her attacks and allows Mai to perform stronger variations of her moves!
As the jam concluded our game submission made it into the Top 8% (Rank 70 overall) out of all the submissions!
